Ev Dylan and DW Chase return to the desert 2 years later

Hard to believe two years have gone by since the first time I shot with Ev Dylan in the Mojavie desert at Joshua Tree, so many pictures, so many changes, but after 2 years we both returned to the same spot to shoot once again.

Compared to the first shoot here, it was much cooler temperature this time. I obviously was in much different and better shape than that original shoot, but did return to the desert with long blond hair once again. Some of these shots were done throughout Southern California and not just in the Palm Springs area however.

I wanted to do something completely different this time, so I dyed my entire body hair, everywhere, blond for this shoot. It was an interesting experience and something I had toyed with once (if you noticed it in the Andrew Keshan pix). I think it created a really neat effect especially with my long blond curly hair.

AUSTRALIA - Andrew Keshan - May 2010

My second photoshoot in Australia was with my friend Andrew Keshan. Andrew and I have been friends for years and I dont think either of us ever really thought we would work together. So I went to meet Andrew around the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge as we just casually took some shots, mostly just for the heck of it, but that always seems to be when things turn out best. Andrew has been a huge supporter online of my modeling career and I was happy to work with him and hang out for a few hours.

AUSTRALIA - Xiaohan Shen - May 2010

Ironic, I am doing this blog post from Australia (just the other side of the country), anyway....

I traveled to Sydney, Australia in May of 2010 and had planned a shoot with photographer Gun Sydney who had to cancel at the last minute. However he recommended a friend and photographer of his, Xiaohan Shen whom I coordinated a last minute shoot with.

Now Australia is on the other side of the world from Texas, so May there is the last month of fall, going into winter. Xiaohan and I managed to grab a day with good lighting between rain showers, but it was still very cold.

I really enjoyed working with the young, talented Xiaohan, she was encouraging and did some amazing work on the photos in post that really stunned lots of people. Here you will see some of the popular shots from the shoot as well as many others that have never been seen. It was a great first shoot in Sydney.

Ev Dylan - The Socks - Spring 2010

Mix and match socks/underwear from Scotland. One of these pictures were featured on Ev Dylan's profile, but never on my Model Mayhem so these are relatively new to the public. I think this series really shows off the curly hair well and Ev's lighting skills. This is another example of small test shoots we do from time to time that often end up producing a good picture or two.

Ev Dylan - Skateboard Shoot - April 2010

I had always wanted to tackle a skateboard shoot, since I had the look, the hair, and finally the board. I am not that great at skateboarding yet, but Galveston, TX is the perfect backdrop for skate pics. So this shoot was more for me than anything, something I had always wanted to do.

Also included here was the beginning of a Jeep shoot we had planned, but after the second shot I hit my toe over the metal on the windshield, ripped open my little toe, blood everywhere, the shoot was over.

Test for LUST, by Ev Dylan - April 2010

If you haven't heard by now, photographer Ev Dylan is releasing his first male photography book called LUST at the end of the year. He has been working on this book for about 2 years, I have helped him with tests, scouting and a few other small things. These shots we did in April 2010, were mostly just tests shots for my long dark hair, lighting, and a location shot for the upcoming book. However, as usual with Ev, anything he tests he always puts just as much effort into so we got some pretty compelling shots.

First shoot with Darren Sabino - Spring 2010

Photographer Darren Sabino moved from Seattle, WA to Houston, TX and I found him on Model Mayhem. He was picky about the models he worked with, which I liked, because he seemed to care a lot about his photography. He had shot some really great, high production value work in Seattle and told me I wouldn't be getting the entire team, but I still felt like the shots would turn out great, and they did.

I scouted locations around Galveston, TX and found a spot on the East End where the tall grass meets the ocean. Sabino, my age or younger, brought his lights and creativity and we got some shots that really stand out in my port for being different, and more magazine like quality. I felt like I should be advertising cologne with these pictures, haha.

Working with Sierra Prescott - California - Feb 2010

I had worked with a female photographer once in the past, and if your wondering where those pictures are, so am I. I never got them, and it is the only time that has ever happened.

I discovered Sierra Prescott through my model friend David Walsh in Los Angeles, who has worked with her and said lots of nice things. So I ask if she would be interested in shooting me, and she agreed so I drove from Beverly Hills to La Canada (somewhere I had never been) to work with her. Young, pretty, and very sure of what she wanted, we shot in her basement that was set up like a real studio. Her friend Courtney Beckett, also a photographer, did my hair for the shoot. My hair was longish, much to the girls dislike, so they made it look short.

I think Sierra and Courtney got some laughter at my expense during the shoot, as Sierra ask me to do some ridiculous poses, hops, and weird dancing, haha, I obliged but she didn't edit any of those, probably a good thing. I enjoyed working with them both, and was very happy with the result, as it was different than anything I had.
